Terms
How commissions, payments and image licences work.
Updated
These terms apply to every commission booked with Maren Vik, photographer, based in Bergen, Norway. A signed quote or a written confirmation by email counts as acceptance.
Booking
A date is held once the booking fee is paid. The fee is 30% of the quoted total and is deducted from the final invoice. Dates are not reserved on a verbal agreement.
Payment
The balance is due within 14 days of delivery of the final files. Expenses such as studio hire, travel, props and assistants are listed in the quote and invoiced at cost.
Cancellation and changes
- More than 14 days before the shoot: the booking fee can move to a new date within six months.
- Less than 14 days before the shoot: the booking fee is kept.
- Less than 48 hours before the shoot: 50% of the day rate is due, plus any costs already incurred.
If weather or light make a location shoot impossible, we agree a new date together at no extra charge.
Licence
Copyright stays with the photographer. The client receives a licence for the uses, territory and period stated in the quote. Wider or longer use can be added at any time for an agreed fee.
Portfolio use
Images may be shown in the portfolio, journal and on social media after the client’s own publication date, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Liability
Files are backed up in two locations until delivery and kept for 12 months after. If a shoot cannot be completed for reasons within the photographer’s control, liability is limited to the amount paid.
